Why Music?

Music as a Universal Language...

There is no "one size fits all" approach to teaching language learners.... but music???  Come on.... it's pretty close!

You don't even need to be a musician to use music!  You just have to ask your students what is on their playlists.

What Does Research Tell Us? 

Here are just a few of the many benefits of music.  Music can...
  • establish a positive learning state and release tension and add an element of fun that motivates students to learn
  • create a desired atmosphere (calm, energized, celebratory)​ and/or change brain wave states
  • build a sense of anticipation (....and the math mystery we are solving is...)
  • accentuate theme-oriented units with a multisensory learning experience (cell theme song anyone?)
  • increase attention to content and memory of concepts

Music can...enhance imagination, align groups, develop rapport, provide inspiration, and add an element of fun
